FR-287. This beautiful natural bridge is located on Argens River near the town of Vidauban in Var department of France. Please note that is a
restricted area with regulation. This area is normally close to public because this natural bridge is situated between a dam and a power station. There are allot of signposts "danger" and "private proprerty" along the way but it is perfectly your right to came to the river. The sigposts "entrée interdite/no trepassing" is not acceptable, moreover many local people come swimming in the Argens river in the summer time. The signposts reports a risk of sudden flooding even if the weather is nice. The water level may rise suddenly due to water release from the dam. There is a risk of being carried away by current and danger of drowning. In fact, the risk is minimized in july and august, the department of Var knows at this time of the year the dryest period but note you visit this area at your own risk.
This natural bridge and the second one are very impressive and worth the visit. These natural bridges was formed by a collapsed roof of the original tunnel about 150 meters long. The second natural bridge is the rest of the portal entrance. Author's note : It is very unfortunate that area around these great natural bridges was not under protection. It result that area was denatured by hideous power lines and deafening power stations. Once on the river level, the peaceful of the place take privilege intensified by emerald pools of water and beautifull waterfal among travertin formation. Author rating ♥♥♥♥
