ALG-126,127. Elou Arch is a double arch located on Tin-Aboteka locality of the vast Tassili National Park,
wilaya of Illizi, Algeria. The main opening has an estimated height of 8 meters and the second opening has a span of 2.2 meters and a height of 2.4 meters (both measured).
Elou means Elephant in the
Tuareg dialect. The whole rock forming the double arch looks like a big elephant hence the name. 8000 years ago, elephants was common on Tassili. Some frescos on the Park reports that.
