Canyon du Groin (France)
This canyon is located close to the village of Artemare in Ain department of France. It's also knows as Gouffre du Diable (Devil Sinkhole). It's a challenging slot canyon which requiers headlamp and 30 meters of rope. On some place, you have to wade or swimm in total darkness and cold water. We found fog inner canyon even on the heart of summer. Also, you have to cross a natural bridge underwater. The opening is drowned even at normal flow and there is not other optional way. No escape way on the slot and log jam is usual after flash flood. It can be a serious ostacle to overcome here. Another
natural bridge
on the way is normally open (if is not blocked by log jam). Canyon covered two time by Alex Oulevey and the author in 1998 and 2000.
